Acumen DG8 gear indicator?
I have one fitted, it is next to useless Are they all crap or am I just unlucky?
Looking at DataTool, are these any better? GiPro have a good rep, but I don't want to spend £100 at the moment

I've had one on on my Indyblade for about 5 years without any problems, so may be a bad one.

I saw somewhere where they say to swap the brown and orange over though this was related to certain bikes and I don't think the ZX9R was one of
them, I have one and it worked OK until I swapped the engine now its not working great but to be fair I haven't had the chance to set it back up
again, I intend to do this on the weekend.
I also remember having issues when I bought it but to be fair the customer service at Acumen was great, give them a call and ask for a tech they will
give you all the help they can, they even sent me some free magnets which was one of the problems I had.

Options for gear indicators used to be fairly limited and the major contenders were the Datatool Digi and Acumen DG8 units (both units were developed
by the same person BTW) We've tried both and couldn't get either of them to work properly on our first Blade engined Indy or our ZX12R
Indy. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't and they were both slow and neither were reliable.
HealTech Electronics, who manufacture the GIPro are IMO the leading manufacturer for speedo calibration modules and gear indicators. If I was after a
gear indicator, the GIPro would be my first and only choice.
Having extensively helped Healtech develop the GIPro gear indicator for the ZX12R in 2007, we had the very first gear indicator for beta testing and
it's never, ever, missed a gear shift in the 6 years it's been fitted.
Spend the extra and get the GIPro. You won't regret it.
