R1 won't Rev 4xv

Evening all!

I have had carbs off and cleaned them out and put on a 'sausage' filter previously running standard airbox with K&N filter.
Won't Rev past 7-8k now, can anybody let me know jet size, needle clip settings and mixture screw turns? A rough idea will help me get it running well enough to then have it rolling roaded.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Have you blocked off the 'air corrector',and one of the holes in each slide?

I've got 145 main jets in mine, but that is also with a worked head and a different exhaust manifold.

Nope, why does these seem to be a common thing to do? Im running standard manifold that has been shortened and a small can on road and a larger for track (keep noise down)

Not really sure why people mod them for car fitment, but it's done by people such as TTS etc.

I think blanking off one hole in the slides causes them to open slower, and blocking the air corrector stops it leaning out at high revs.

Yeah those jets are correct, but you might need a few different sizes ready to get it bang on once on rollers

Thanks mate, I will order up some 145's and see what it's like. Do you know what's in there standard? Did you do anything with the needles?

IIRC standards are 126.

Not entirely sure what needles are in mine,as I had a selection in a jet kit when I bought the carbs.

98-01 Yamaha R1 Factory Pro Carburetor Jet Kit 1.0

I don't think it's worth buying though,as plenty of people use the standard needles, just lift them.
Also the jets in that kit were not big enough for what I needed.
