3:1English escort C/W and Pinion

High Ian From Oz.
I have a Westie SEi Aus version. (now called an Arrow)
It uses and english escort diff in the alloy carrier. (as I think the early cars did there)
I am looking to repower the car with a Busa.
The problem I have is the tallest diff ratio I can find for that centre is 3.56. (If you know of others let me know)
As you are no doubt aware I will need something in the region of 2.9- 3:1
I am currently getting quotes to make said gears.

Just wondering if there is any interest in this over there.
Not trying to make a buck but if I can reduce my costs by increasing the numbers then all good.

The tallest English diff is a 3.54 as you say. Iirc someone looked into having bespoke ones made over in the U.K. and they were about £1500 each. If you have an SEI doesn't the "I" stand for independent so it should have a Sierra diff which has a 3.14 available (but rare and expensive). Has you chassis been modified to take the solid axle and so can be put back to independent?

It is independent. But it uses the English centre in a cast alloy housing.
I thought this was how your early SEi's were done before the Sierra. I could be very wrong on this though.
We never got the Sierra here so if you think those diffs are rare there....

I could of course re engineer the rear to take a Freelander or BMW diff.
But. There is no guarantee of getting rego. Becs are near non existent on the roads here.
I need to be able to put if back to how it is now if I fail.
Noise will be the hard one. It will need to meet the same noise rules as a brand new car did in 2004 (when it was originally built)

Hope to have a rough idea of price back in the next few days so will update then.
