'08 R1 - No Fuel Pump prime or Crank

Hello all,

I have put an '08 R1 engine and loom in the back of a car.

Its all wired up but I am experiencing a small issue.

Basically, when I go to on and then crank, there is no fuel pump prime or crank. I find this odd cause I am getting

- all lights on dash working with no codes
- bike in neutral
- ex-up valuve does it check
- throttle system primes and does it check
- kick stand is up

I have checked the voltages and fuses around the starter relay and that all appears good.

Is there something I have missed that is causing the pump not to prime and allow to start. Any help would be great.

Does it have a tilt switch.

Yes it does, and that is positioned correctly, with the word UP, facing up.

What ignition are you using.
Is it the bike ignition.
Does it have an Immobilizer.

have you check the tilt switch is actually working? Do you have a meter to check it or to check if there's power to the pump? Usually these kinds of things are something daft like a blow fuse, missing or bad earth, loose connection, faulty relay etc...

It does, but that has been bypassed and proved out (on initial vehicle install). Nothing has changed in that circuits so I dont think it is that

As for the tilt switch, I confirmed it was all working.

I have checked power to the pump and it appears it is not getting power. I have checked and it is earthed correctly.
Which is making me further think it is a logic thing - or as you say a stupid earth issue.

Only other thing I can think is the black relay box that has the large connector. Is there anyway to check functionality?

So on the top surface, not on the side with the writing the right way up (common mistake).

Is the kill switch on or bypassed? That stops crank and fuel pump.

start with the obvious and simple and test with a meter rather than assume things are functioning like the kill switch.
