I think the BMW's turn the right way, and they are used in some motorsport (e.g. the ADR1000 uses the K100 engine.

I believe it is a bit heavy, and only the most recent ones have > 120bhp.

I think someone tried a BMW boxer engine, but one cylinder was poking out of the body.

I also think somebody built a MK with a goldwing engine, but again I imagine it would be more like a car engine - not so revvy, heavier, etc.

The Pan European 1100 v4 has been used (in my car!) and is fine, if a bit heavy and not the most powerful. Sounds pretty good though!

Regards,
Adam.

what about the engine from a kawasaki vn2000

Model Year 2005
Engine type Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke V-Twin
Displacement 2,053 cm³
Compression ratio 9.5:1
Maximum power 76 kW {103 PS}/ 4,800 rpm
Maximum torque 177 N·m {130.5 lb ft}/ 3,200 rpm

now that would sound nice a 2.0 v twin

I think the Grinnell Scorpion uses K Series BMW engines. They have blistering performance and don't weigh that much less than a Seven.

I think they use the whole unit slung out the back using the original shaft drive.

vn2000

Now that's a BIG twin!

However, the offset from the drive output to the far end of the engine looks massive, so half of it would be hanging out of the car in mid air!

Also check out the weights of the bikes and you can estimate the weights of the engines - ie bloomin heavy!

If you want a 120kg+ engine that only revs to 7k you might as well just put in a car engine

I think that's what MK did with the shaft drive fj motor, I'm sure that turned the wrong way. Not sure how the diff liked it though.
