R1 exup valve removal

I want to remove my exup valve and have heard to do this you need to short some of the wires together.

Can anyone tell me which ones need to be shorted?

Thanks
Joe

I think you need a resistor to act as the exup.
Not to sure someone will know

do you want to remove the exup valve from the exhaust or the exup servo from the wiring?

My exhaust just won't have an exup valve in it but I will keep the servo connected up to the loom. It is small and light and I got one with my engine so I might as well keep it.

I think that there is more to the "fool" circuit than a resistor. You might be as well looking for an exup servo from a breaker or from eBay.

If you like carrying around weight for the sake of it then carry on . But it has been proven on countless setups that lack of electrical feedback to the ECU from the exup does absolutely nothing for power.

Just splice the wires (IIRC on my 2000/01 engine White/Red to Black/Red). If you are running the R1 clocks you will get a diagnostic fault which occurs only if the ignition is on but engine is off.

Thanks for your help. I think I'll try splicing the wires as I dont want the exup valve cluttering up the car.

Cheers.

Info please - I want to make a wee circuit to fool the CDI into thinking exup is present. To do the design I need to know how fast the servo responds. CAn anyone tell me what the slew rate is on the servo output? how long does it take to move to a new position?
cheers
Bob
PS there are circuits on the web to do this but I reckon I can make a much simpler one....

Bob,

If you are a bit of a whizz with electronics then you could build a Marc Bell special. Instructions were hosted on the net ages ago but I cant find it now. Fortunately I took a copy in word.

Let me have you email address and I'll send it to you.

Cheers

Jim
