Suspension

hi all,

I'm currently building a ST Loco- Blade for track use, can anyone give me some idea of specs for the shock absorbers i.e open+closed lengths and spring rates etc..

I don't now whether the stuart taylor chassis is designed for and length os shocks in particular, but its not to hard to work out for your self on a nearly comlete car.


Block the chassis at desired ride hight with suspension on and wheels /tyres fitted.

Measure distance between shock mounts.

As I understandint you want about equal travel up/down from nominal ride height. example for nominal damped length of 11" a shock of 13" open and 9" closed would be a good starting point.


The company selling you the shocks/springs should be able to work out spring length.


Finally do a search on hear for spring rate etc. its been asked several times. The only sure fire answewr I know is to buy ever rate of spring avalible and experiment to find out what works best for you. A tad expensive though.

I'm sure some one else can give you a more accurtae staring point on spring rates.
