r1 carbs

R1 carbs have a metal pipe going in at one end, going through each carb being linked by smaller and smaller pipes and comeing out of the other end at a much smaller diameter. what is this pipe for?

They have another metal pipe coming out of the bottom. is this the fuel inlet?

Top vent is the slide diaphragm vent, the bottom (between carbs 1 & 2 if I remember correctly) is the fuel inlet.

Go to www.fiche-man.com and he'll send you a cd containing all workshop maunals and parts books as pdf files for a tenner....

I think the tube you are refering to is a coolant inlet / outlet to avoid Carb icing. I left mine unconnected.

The fuel inlet is the brass inlet between carbs 2 and 3.

Cheers

I have a service manual for the R1. It doesn't mention these pipes. The 4 breather hoses I've got sorted, it's these other 3 that are not mentioned that I want to know about.

Just leave 'em all disconnected except for the fuel pipe - it'll be fine!
