Immobiliser

I have bought a keyfob immobliser to use with my carbed R1 BEC (for keyless ignition) and was wondering which circuits you would recommend I immobilise?

The system cuts into 2 circuits and it is suggested that one of these is for the starter. For the other, I was thinking of maybe the fuel pump circuit? Or how about the power from the ignition fuse to the coils?

Just general pointers if this kind of info is a bit too sensitive

Thanks

Cut the input to the relay module from the Cyclelok, and the killswitch circuit. That way you cut both fuel and ignition (possilbly in two different places too), whereas just cutting the starter circuit will mean it can still be bump started!

I'll try to have a look at the wiring diagram tonight to point you in the right direction for specific circuits.... Yours is a late carbed one if I remember rightly? Have you have it going yet?

Cheers Coose - mine is a '99 carbed engine. But I don't have this cyclelock bunch-of-black-wires gizmo on my loom.

Having an exhaust made next week.....

Feed to ECU and starter is what I'd choose. That way everything electronic is dead...

On a car engined car I would go for the feed to the ecu and also the crank angle sensor.

Right, I whould splice it in the Red/Black wire where it leaves the kill switch to the relay unit (i.e. in series with the kill switch), thus isolating the feed to the coils, the feed to the coil of the starter solenoid AND the fuel pump in one foul swoop! Then, instead of shorting say, the sidestand switch, you could use your spare contact so that if they do get around the other circuit they still won't be able to drive off as it'll stall every time they put it in gear!

Just a couple of thoughts....
