It should be OK, but you wouldnt be converting any gearboxes, if you want to use a bike engine you'll be using the gearbox thats built into it

For that reason you'd need to check the gear ratios to make sure its not too low geared or too low revving, most BECs need a very tall diff to give a useable top speed (aim for 120mph+) and a lot of sports tourer engines rev lower and arent geared for top speed, so wont be that suitable.

To be honest though, unless you want to be different or have a special affinity to the engine, it would be a lot easier / cheaper to install a fireblade or ZX9 engine, both can be picked up for little money (£5-700 seems to be the going rate at the moment), both are just as powerful (or go for an R1 for £1k and get another 25bhp), and both have all the off-the-shelf parts youll need for a simple install, whereas with the RF900 you'll have to have things like exhausts and possibly prop flanges custom made, which quickly eats into the budget when compared to buying off the shelf bits.

Chris

BTW it might be an idea to fire off any other BEC questions you have in the BEC section, they mostly like boat anchor tractor engines in these parts

Although not a locost I have one in a Dax Rush.
Not every one can spend £3K on a Hayabusa.
The only problem I had was a expensive exhaust and had to make a new Clutch slave although a different propshaft may have worked as well.
Watch out for 2nd gear jumping Mine needed 3 new gears and 1 fork.
and I have seen them on ebay from £60 - £250.
