B.E.C emissions

i have my sva date(27th june) so i am taking it to a mates garage for a pre emissions test,he asked me for some idea what the levels should be,i found this on the site,co<=0.3%,hc<=200ppm,is that enough to go on?

sva limits should be the same as current mot car limits as they use the same bet test (basic emmisions test) so they will probably check it to 0.2%co at 3000rpm less than 200 hc's and a lambda value of 0.97 to 1.03 then a check at idle of less than 0.3% co they may allow 0.3% co at 3000rpm and 0.5at idle depending on engine age. all this assumes its a post 95 engine hope this helps

bigrich is totally right
I was told by SVA bloke when I was setting uo my car

tickover 0.5 co

fast idle 2500-3000rpm

co 0.3
hcc max 200
Lamda 0.97-1.03

but on the sheet when i passed it said

CO tickover max allowed 0.3

fast idle CO 0.2 max allowed

I passed my r1 by adjusting the mixture screws only

its a fiddly job TBH

get the CAT HOT

SVA pass figures -

CO idle 0.50

CO fast idle 0.30
HC fast idle 200
lambda 0.97 - 1.03

These taken from my test yesterday ( which i failed by the way)

Is it possible that different sva centres are using different pass criteria??

Good luck!

Rich.

Yes, the other two seem pretty standard. I think it takes some doing to get over 200 on the HC...

mot man made good point!

took car to garage for emissions test, ok on idle but to much waste fuel, so need to really turn those screws in,but anyway the mot guy made a good point,if the car is built from a doner vehicle and is registered as a1990 car then the year of the engine shouldnt matter ,because when he tests the car in 3 years time the emissions test will be based on the reg of the car so a basic idle test will do, over to you lads!!!!!! if your bike engine is 95 to present day then for SVA you will do an emissions test
readings as above

once registered three years later at first MOT if on Q plate should be no emissions test

strange but true

mot emmisions are stated on your log book. if you read the mot manual it states q plates are visual but also says kits built after 98 s reg are subject to sva and are tested to the limits of the year of engine fitted.

why could you not say at sva i want a q plate so its emmisions exempt save a lot of bother don't you think

my 2005 92 j reg is cat emmisions to pre 2002 limits

My HC was 1200 when I first tested it prior to SVA. Adjusting the valve shims got it down to 600 and a bigger cat got it down to 180.

I had to try hard to get it below 200ppm
