Sierra diff / driveshaft strength

Hi

Someone round the corner has an M3 3.2 Evo engine for sale at very reasonable money. He's about to put it on ebay, so if I want it, I need to say so in the next week. I know I shouldn't, (especially considering the 2.5 isn't even running 100% yet) but...

So, will my 7" sierra LSD and bolt on driveshafts handle 258lb/ft of torque?

Cheers,

Dave

how much BHP is the orginal sierra?

Also compare the ford numbers with the ones on the cosworth or the V6 edition..

saying that the specs could be the same and the lenghts etc. different.

i think they can have enough abuse!

the viento V8 also use them..

Tks

if it does break you could upgrade to a 7.5" diff, or get custom halfshafts if they proved to be the weak point.

I personally believe you will be fine with standard parts. The prop is the only thing that is crucially important, as a broken diff/halfshaft is not going to maim you.

Cool!
Specced the propshaft to handle M3 power in case I ended up doing something like this, so that should be OK.

I'll have to check if the exhaust will fit, and look long and hard at my dwindling bank balance now. I really shouldn't spend any more. But it IS an M3 engine.

Thanks nick you're not helping
And I'd need to get a computer for it and get the exhaust adapted for bigger ports... Girlfriend and mother will go spare... I still might

M3 engine.... cool!

Go on, be a bit different!

I'd like to know what you do with it ECU and wiring wise....

Can you get VANOS to work with Megasquirt?

Cheers,
James
