Well, Bit the bullet..........
bough a quaife reverse box, just slotted in for now, so i can the engine in position.

why do you want reverse ? will you be doing your shopping in it ?

If I had a gearbox like that I would want to put it on the tunnel not in the tunnel!

Ah that the Quaif self leveling system. had personal experience of that one
a level bung thats not a level bung it will trow out any it does not need through the breather MMMMM. They are a good bit of kit though
MNR have a fitting that screws onto the vent to a catch tank coke bottle until it settles down

so what's it do then? .... and don't say reverse.
does it sit in the propshaft (between engine and axle) so when you drive forwards it is locked but when you want reverse, it unlocks the prop between
itself and the engine and an electric motor whizzes the prop so you go back?

It swaps the drive from forwards to reverse so the engine still drives the car, so you now have six reverse gears .

i cant understand it myself, its a hell of a lot of money and weight just to save pushing the car backwards?

Pushing the car is OK for most of us but there are those who are unable to push their car up an incline, either because of the gradient or it's
beyond the persons physical abilities.

The ability to reverse is required for certain classes of car for motorsport as well!
