Calling all 'bird BECs.

Im feeling even more left out. Someone must have a bbird engine in there locost

copy n paste......
Few Q&A's

1. What year and model of engine
2. What air filter set up
3. What exhaust system
4. What Diff and wheel sizes
5. What type of gear linkage - cable/solid links

these are my specs.

1. 1999 CBR1100xx (blackbird) injection
2. Standard air box with massive bonnet bulge
3. Not sorted yet but probably will be custom made with tuned lengths.
4. Sierra 3.8 ish. Wheel size unknow at the moment
5. My own solid gear link with rose joints and ali rods.

How have you modified the clutch slave cylinder to fit in by the prop?

What kind of sump are you running?

Its nice to here of someone who is running the blackbird engine, i have heard of very few.

1. 1137cc, not sure of year, carbs.
2. Stanard air box, fitted upside down with loads cut off it exposing filter.
3. Standard blackbird manifold to custom built (MK) bendy bits n silencer.
4. 15" wheels, Avon ACB10 dry, Avon CR28 wets. Quiaff diff, chain driven, sprokets changed in minutes to siut track.
5. Home built, single rod straight to lever, (engine is in back)

Removed sproket guard and made aluminium spacers to refit standard slave cyl in original position just enough clearance from prop !
Cut and baffeled standard sump ,ive bin told the are prone to oil surges with prolonged track use but used mine for 12 months now on road and had no probs yet !
How about you Jon ? How much better ,if at all ,is bird over blade ? Next project may be blade powered !

building bbird 97 special
air filter is custommade by twinair holland
washable foam filter in a fabricated stainless frame
exhaust is custommade with acrapovic streetlagal damper Racing in holland requires low noise
diff is capri 3,09 with 15"street and 13"circuit wheels
costommade sry sump system
tried mistral dump but this only lasted a few laps on a circuit then oil surge spoilt the fun. Anyone interested in mistal sumps 2 complete sets.
gear linkage custommade with kliktronic, omex and plc to fiddle with

how much do u want for one of the sumps? I may be interested if its a dry sump system at a decent price.

mistral sumps are not dry sump,
this are shortened sumps with a baffle plate and shortened oil tube and pump pick up.
The dry sump system wich we currently use is homemade with a pace pump.
lack of spare time means i cannot offer u one.

i have seen home made dry sumps using the "ford" pinto rotors in a machined (alloy) housing for the scavange pump, just need to get the pully size's rite so the pump is allways capable up getting every last drop back to tank, guess it could be done very cheaply once the drive was sorted..........

Dave Walker ?? it was Geoff Beressford who made them, remember him ? guess he's still around ? i had one on my atmo cosworth grass car.

You got it Jon!

GB still on the scene and very busy, in fact so busy you'll wait forever if you order anything from him.

I used a similar setup on a race mini - used a modified Pinto oil pump to scavenge the sump. Mini revved to about 9 (was a 970S), and pump ran at about one third engine revs. Would have thought a quarter would be plenty fast enough for a bike.
