Can anyone explain the differences between the Yamaha Fazer 1000 engine and the R1 engine.
If I remember correctly the Fazer 1000 engine was supposedly a "detuned" version of the R1 engine (to suit the Fazer 1000 bike's
sports tourer role as opposed to R1's all out supersports character), but what actually were the physical differences between the two
engines?
If the differences were limited to easily swappable cost effective parts then it could be worth getting a Fazer engine if they go for less money.
Appreciate it if anyone knows.
Regards
Angus

I know that the Thundercat engine was a detuned R6 engine, so it wouldnt surprise me if what you suggest is true. However I can't confirm that.
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!
