R1 single seater - first drive (video to follow)

Hi All

I've just spent the weekend sprinting at Pembrey in my single seater - this is the first time I've driven the car! I was very nervous and waiting for something to break so a little off the pace (10%off the class average times). I broke the gear lever and had the external crank trigger wheel start coming loose but everything else was great and the R1 motor was awesome!

All I can say is it's mental! It felt like somebody screaming in my ears and kicking me in the arse all the time!

I took an on board video and will post that to uTube later hopefully. It felt manic but was obviously pretty timid in comparison to some others in my class!

I can only imagine how quiick.

I was there the other night while an acquaintance of mine was trying out his new car - a GSXR 1100 powered Megapin.

Shockingly quick little thing. 320kg apparently. I'm sure you and the Swift will get on famously

Wiscombe is my favourite venue, even though I'm tediously slow (something to do with all the close trees!).

The video is now on the web here

Do you have pictures of your car from the outside. The camera angle makes it look as though you don't have any wheels!

Thanks Guys

I think it's a nice looking car - it doesn't look out of proportion even though it's been chopped about a lot! The rear bodywork makes a difference - lots of the BEC single seaters have no bodywork from the roll hoop back.

Rob - hopefully I'll be at Llys y Fran - I don't particularly like it there but I picked up a 1st and 2nd in class (in the Locost) the last two times I went there so I must be doing something right!

Regards

Wyn

Thanks Coose - I was going slow enough for it to have been running on steam!

Next Wiscombe for the Welsh Championship is in September - double header - well worth the journey!
