exhaust headers fabricators?

Does anyone know of anywhere near Oxfordshire that can fabricate me an exhaust manifold for my 954 blade lump? I really dont want to have to trailor it up to mk if i dont have to!

Unless you want something special (turbo mainfold ?) then why don't you contact MK Engineering ?

Surely MK Engineering (and others) have made enough of these to be able to make them without having the car in front of them? It's a fairly common engine install after all.

MK made my R1 manifold without my engine and Martin's price was a third of the cost of simpsons.

The penny has dropped.

Your avatar shoes a pinto exhaust and I assume you've gone 'blade and made your own cradle.

I used an MK exhaust on my mac1 and it didn't fit so I heated it up with a pepper pot and bent it into perfect position.

HTH.

My manifold was £225 delivered. Simpsons quoted me £650 over the phone and that I would have to take my engine to them.
I am sure they are good but I am not looking for the 10 10ths required for motorsport!

yep its for a 954cc fireblade engine. I have made my own mounts and cradle as gone from a pinto engine, so the engine positioning etc is different to others. Ive got a std bike manifold which Ive cut the ends off to go in the head so they can be welded to the pipes, but just need the rest of the manifold fabbed up.

Simpson are well know and very good, but its not very locost is it! lol!

Like I said, I know that mk eng could do it for me, but I dont really want to have to trailor it all the way up there if I can get one made around here.

A Simpson silencer is only £200-250 so in effect £500-550 for the manifold in that instance I guess.

Getting the manifold primaries the same length and meeting at the same point is by far the most difficult / time consuming part of making an exhaust system, so making a one-off on the car which Simpson will do for you is going to be a lot more time consuming / expensive than making a standard one from a jig which is what MK probably do having made lots exactly the same.

How different is it than a standard Indy, it cant be that much can it? If not then its quite likely the stock manifold from them would fit anyway Id think?

Why not buy a stock manifold and see if it fits, even if it doesnt fit it would probably be cheaper / easier to remake the engine mounts until it does fit than it would toget a bespoke manifold made up.

well ive just rang SIMPSON and they wont quote over the phone, so as asked ive emailed him some pics of the car with a description of what i want, so Ill wait and see what price he comes up at.

MK cant do it for 5-6weeks as he is so busy! Gutted! Its all i need to get the car back on the road!

If its any use had mine made by a company called Promotive exhausts in Atherstone above Coventry (maybe not too far away from you in Oxfordshire?) who mainly make manifolds for bikes, including a lot of World and British Superbikes
He wont be any cheaper than Simpsons (£600) but the quality of workmanship is equally as good

They don't have a website but the main chap's name is Andy Fraser and these are the contact details I have:

Might be worth a call if Simpsons can't fit you in.

Never heard of them, but I'd be interested to hear how this works out.

I'm in Oxford with a similar problem!

Here is their web address if it is of interest.
