Speedo problems

Have completely lost my speedo on my fireblade Sturart Taylor. Any thoughts as to what could be the problem? as I was driving it the speedo was reading normally but then jumped to reading more than double what I was actually doing. Then it died completely and has not come back. Standard bike clock.

Thanks

Find out where the speedo pickup is and see if theres anything amiss, such as magnets.

Sounds like the pickup or magnet came adrift then fell off.

Have you checked the pickup??

Strange....
If a magnet fell off, the speedo would read lower than the actual speed.....
Maybe there was a loose connection on the sensor, resulting in intereference... now the wire has completely broken?

Its quite possible that a magnet could have come loose and jammed momentarily underneath the pickup before displacing the other magnets or knocking the pickup out of position. That would explain the speedo reading more than double the actual speed before failing altogether.

If anyone is interested. Found the cause of the speedo problems, both my magnets had come off. I think the increase in speed was a result of a poor earth connection as I still occassionally get this occurrence especially when revving high. I am stretching my limits of knowledge here but seems to make sense to me, any thoughts?

What's best way to actually stick these magnets back on more permanently?
