propshaft - mt75

I have just been on the phone to a guy at Bailey Morris Propshafts about ordering a prop for my velocity.

I told him the gearbox ( MT75 ) and from that point on he was concerned because the prop would have to be a solid item using the rubber donut. He said that they have had alot of trouble with this gearbox and a solid prop so woudl have to do a bit of phoning around to see whats been done in the past...

my question is,

what have people done who have MT75 gearboxes? have you guys had any problems? i cant believe this has not been done before? have I been given duff info?

I bought a propshaft from proptech in kidderminster and used a rubber dougnut. 600 odd miles in the car and I haven't had any sign of problems yet.

strange, I got mine from them a few weeks back. Very easy transaction

Although im not using the donut and its adjustable in lenght 20mm each way.

Think it was around £190 as said. £40 of that was the adapter they do to go from the gearbox to a standard uj.

Edit ... It was actually from Dunning and Fairbank ltd

woops

Mine also has a solid adapter to allow a u/g to be bolted to the 3 prong thingy.

Anyone got a pic of one of these converter discs?

Might have a crack at turning a few up on the lathe, can't see them being that complex. I'm guessing the central spigot on the box needs cutting down flush with the face of the plate??

Looks like that replaces the three legged output on the MT75, don't see what it brings to the party really.
What I was thinking was to machine a disk which bolts to that 3 legged affair, and uses the spigot to centre it. Then machine the disk to take a regular propshaft flange, and use an MGB propshaft (has a sliding joint built in)... I'm building an MGB anyway but no reason the prop couldnt be used elsewhere, and shortening them is really easy.
Rgds.
Pete.

ill wait to hear back from Bailey tomorrow and see how much they want to charge - and what they think their suggestion is, then decide who to go with.
