I haven't seen a pop-up in years ---Firefox even better with the AdBloc Plus add on installed.

Beware any free pop blockers that aren't truly free under the GPL or similar license as many contain spyware or are "hostage ware".

I've just got XP with IE7 patched up to date, no google toolbar, and I very rarely get a popup, like maybe one a month.

I went from IE to Netscape to Firefox in a finally successful bid to end the popups. Firefox rules! (and it's free, with daily updates, too!)
