Fitting R1 fuel pump into Ally fuel tank
Can anyone give me some guidance here??
I am having an aluminium tank made at the moment and I intended to fit the standard fuel pump fom the 03 R1 into the bottom of the tank.
The idea being it should do the job very well without buying aftermarket pumps and worrying about pressures ect, and would also give me some level
indication as well.
However when I looked the pump again today something doesnt look right.
Namely all the electrical connections on it. I didnt see it come out of the original tank, but assumed the pump just bolted straight through the
bottom, but this would leave all the electrical bits either emersed in fuel or in a potentially gaseous atmosphere when the fuel is lower. Is this
correct or am I missing something??

yes thats correct what you have there martin keenon also does the boss what the pump mounts on if t
you need one

I,ve yet to see an intank fuel pump without open connectors in the tank !
Lots of pumps have small blade fittings and are universal, the plastic bits make them bespoke to cars/bikes.
Being in the fumes does not matter as long as they do not rub and start to spark, even then I do not think the tank would blow as not enough O2, you
can stub a fag out in petrol !

I'm looking into using one of these at the moment, where does the fuel enter the pump and what is the big hole to the right of the electrical
connections in the photo?.
