ZX9 Coolant Sensor

Does anyone know if I can connect my Smiths temp. gauge straight to the coolant sensor thats on the ZX9 engine or will I have to buy the Smiths one. As well does anyone know the standard fitment? The Smiths is 1/8 npt

You will need the Smiths sender unit for that dial to work, are'nt you using the zx9 clocks, they do have temp gauge built in.

Yeah I am but the only fuel thingy built into the clocks is just a red light, which by that time is already too hot I wondered if the coolant sender thats fitted was a sender or just a switch which activates the red light.

Do you want to use it as a fuel sender or temp, if it's for the fuel i would say it act's as a switch for the red light, if it's for the temp, it would have to read the engine temp to move the bars up in the bottom of the zx9 clocks.

Sorry, yes talking out of my arse again. I meant temp. and so yes I suppose the question is, is it a sensor or a switch.

Are you using the zx9 c clocks like mine, if so it has a half decent temp gauge buit in, the red warning light is for the fuel level, i use a Smiths fuel gauge as a seperate because of the red light on the clocks, the sender for my fuel gauge is not a Smiths type, it was already fitted to the tank when i bought the kit.

Yes. I think I'm getting a bit mixed up with my motorbike here. Where's the temp gauge on the standard clocks then?Is it the red and blue blocks on the display?

The temp gauge is the reading in the rev counter, you can just make out the first notch just to the right of the zero rev mark in my photo.

I like the way you have set the clocks in to your dash, if i get time this winter, i will rip out my dash and start a fresh, big mistake with the stereo.

Have a dash now with a better radius on the bottom so had to do it twice now. LOTS of stitch drilling. Got one arm like Popeye now

I'm on my pda so I can't see that well but if you're pointing at the light then I guess that'll be the low fuel warning light.

Low fuel warning light, dont use it myself, if i remember right, the temp bars go in to red when the engine is getting hot.
