BEC Fuel Gauge Options
Hi All,
looking at picking up a BEC soon with a CBR 954 lump.
My question is... How can i get a fuel gauge to work off the tank?
Does the fireblade pump have a float and can it be modified? And will this work with a standard gauge?
Or can i use a different sender? (It used to be a pinto - would this have had something fitted before?)
And then wire up a gauge to that?
Sorry for all the questions, only has a low warning light at the mo and would like something a little more accurate.

you can get a sender from the likes of Demon tweeks there about 20 quid then get a fuel gauge to match and hey presto
|

Being Naive... How is that then fitted to the tank and how do you set it up to be calibrated to the tank?

depending on whats in there already tank out flush with water
drill hole and sender goes in from top it usually has one wire coming from the sender your fuel gauge usually has the other wires

I just got a gauge and sender from Rally Design for a decent price (about £40 all in).
Calibraiong is a simple thing, but might not explain very well.
There's a loat on the end of an arm that moves on a pivot. To adust the perameters of the sender, you make the pivot roughly central to the
height of your fuel tank and adjust the length of the arm to fit the top and bottom of your tank (or, where you want the fuel gauge to read empty -
leave yourself a little bit of leaway!).
To fit the sender, you drill out a hole in the top of your tank and fit the sender (it'll come with a rubber seal/gasket etc. for this). As
Chris said, have a look on Demon Tweeks or Rally esign at the photo's to et an understanding.
Wiring seems fairly simple, and I'll be able to comment further on this soon, after I've fitted mine!

Ahhh ok doesnt seem too hard (Remember to remove fuel!)
As it was a pinto before is it likely to have the kit already there? (the hole at least?)

no most likely as its more of a aftermarket part youll soon know whether its there or not if you take the back panel off

I have a vapor dash which you tell the fuel capacity of the tank. Next time you fill up you tell it again by what amount. After that, everytime you
fill up you press reset and it gives you a rough guide to your level.
As a back up, I will be using the fuel pump fuel warning level switch to light a dash bulb.
I know this sounds long winded but it is just one less bit of weight on the car and my tank is going to taper towards the bottom so any gauge will
act badly.
