Fury diff removal

I want to change the diff in my Fury, but it looks awfully tight back there....

The back of the diff is approximately 2 cm from the front of the fuel tank - which doesn't look like it can be removed whilst the body is on

I think that the tank is a standard Midget one, can anyone give me any advice on how to do this job prior to me unbolting everything and spending an afternoon swearing at myself whilst pouring diff oil everywhere?

I've got a Fury with an English diff and there is somewhat more room than that, I'll take some photos this evening as the back is up in the air already.

Thanks Hugh, presumably the English diff is the non-IRS version?

I'll get a couple of photos of mine on here tonight too.

The english diff is indeed the live axle version.

My NS half shaft is with Fisher today having the bearing replaced (as they are gearbox/bearing specialists and about 3miles from home!). The more I think about it though the more I like the idea of getting the axle off and refurbishing the diff at the same time, so the axle may well be coming off.

There isn't a huge amount of room in mine either, though more than yours by the sounds of it. AFAIK the tank is the standard one supplied by Fisher, whether that is a midget tank or not I don't know, mine is ~25litres.

Excuse the tools, mess and drum bits on the floor
