As im down to my last few pennies i though i would blow the rest of my money on a nice race can. Are there any website which i can listen to the different exhaust cans so i can decide which i like the best?

Youtu*e sound quality is cr*p!!

If money is tight then do the sensible thing, get a standard R1 can from Ebay ~£10

Drill the rivits out on the surrounds, then grind back the folded edge, and bash out the baffles.

Bit of 2 1/2" perforated tube and some wadding then repack and rivit up, all done for £25 with adeep rich sound.

Regards Mark

Similar advice to above Matt.

Go for a nice standard (read quiet!) can and have the stealth approach and qualify easily for trackdays where other BEC's struggle...

You'll also do it for reasonable money that way aswell!

sure the sound depends on sooooo many different factors, a website with sound clips wouldn't be much good

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I'll second Mark's advice above - cheap carbon R1 can and rip the baffles out. Converted to a straight thru with some perforated tube and loft insulation it seems to work very nicely - even getting me through Bedford Autodrome's draconian noise regs (I do have a turbo though, so that helps cut down on raucous exhaust noise). Still, very impressed with something that cost me £15 from ebay!

If you're after pure sound pleasure, then I recommend my old 1.7 XFlow engine running a bit rich with pops and bangs on the overrun, a completely empty repackable silencer and the Culfail Tunnel at Lewes on a quiet Sunday. I've got a video clip somewhere but the sound is sadly spoilt by the wind noise. We went back and forwards 6 times because it was so much fun :-)

Tom
