1.8 Pinto
I have got a 1.8 Pinto engine which I shall be using in it's bog standard form apart from a pair of Dellorto carbs that I have aquired. The
carbs are 40's with 32 mill chokes. Purely on a cost basis I would like to stick with these chokes (unless somebody knows better), but can
anybody tell me the jet sizes that will work well on this very standard setup?

According to Des Hammill's Book the Jetting for a standard 1800cc pinto using 40mm Dellorto DHLA's is..
34mm Chokes
140 main jets
7772.10 emulsion tubes
180 air correctors
7850.1 idle jet holder
40 idle jets
7848.1 aux venturis
40 pump jets
Float level shut off height 15mm
Float height at full droop 25mm.
These settings apply to the 1600, 1800 and 2000.
Hope this helps. It recommends 34mm chokes, and 36mm being too big for a non-modified 1600, so I gues 32's might not have much of an adverse
effect.

My 2.0L pinto with head mods 285 and four branch produces 120 at the wheels on DHLA's with 34 chokes. Running 32's in a bog standard 1.8
should give a very drivable car but lose out a bit on the potential top end. Not good for trackdays but excellent 98% of the time in the real world.

Dave Andrews' jetting prog is available on his website and gives these settings.
Choke 32
Main 130
7772.8 / .6 Em Tubes
180 air correctors
45 / 7850.2 idle jets
35/40 pump jets
7848.2 Aux venturi
That is for power it also works out jetting for flexibility but is only a guide.
yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
