more 03 R1 queries

I know some people have completely removed the AIS system but I was looking to keep it (for the meantime at least) so was wondering what should I do with the AIS pipe that would normally run to the airbox - should I just let it vent to air or should I cut a hole in my filter plate and plumb it into my air filter ?

Also on the throttle bodies there are 2 pipes that connect to 2 'plunger control unit hoses' - should I just let these 2 pipes on the throttle bodies vent to air as well or should they be connected to somewhere ?

Why do you want to keep it?? Not needed for SVA as it cuts emmissions while the engine is warming up and the emmissions test is carried out at full working temperature. Its switched off by then.

i have blanked mine off and drilled the cam cover to allow a breather into a catch tank,this followed advice that the r1 engine has problems with breathing

Hi Paul - I am looking for the simplest solution so that I can get the car running and on the road. I do not know much about bike engines so am aiming to make as few modifications as necessary until I get to know a bit more about the R1 i.e. research for the dark winter nights.

I've put one of those little breater filters on the end of mine ('06 5vy).

I tried experimented with blocking it when I was playing about with the emmisions and couldn't get anywhere near the required readings that way. Others have only been able to pass WITH it blocked I believe?

Just cut the vent for the AIS back and pop a Ripspeed breather filter on the end.

The vents for the CV slides need to be at the same pressure as your intake really. If you are just running a sausage filter, then it would be fine to just put a breater filter on them, however if you are using any kind of airbox, then they should be fed off the airbox. Obviously if you have forced induction they need to be run off the manifold.
