Big ol Kwak
Hi all,
I have question regarding a GPZ1000RX,I have been having a problem with the car bogging down under load, ticking over it will rev freely.
Today I have been playing about with it and noticed this,When I pull either plug lead 1 or 4 (Not both at once) the engine cuts out but if I pull 2 or
3 off the engine continues to run all be it a bit lumpy,Any one any ideas as to why this would be,Could this be a problem with the coils breaking down
under load,I swapped the cdi over but the same thing happens !!
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

On the spark plug top you sometimes get spring flatting... this occurs by the boot which has a two pronged spring clip inside, it deforms the thread
and allows the boot to lift, breaking the electrical contact... try swapping the plugs around - whilst doing so check the integrity of the threads on
top - if they have a flat on, this may be the cause of your problems.

It means that, at idle, cylinders 1 & 4 are doing more work than 2 & 3, hence the engine dies when you take away one of the cylinders doing
more work. As the other cylinders are obviously doing something (you say engine runs lumpy when those cyls are removed) I'd say it's
highly unlikely to be spark related, could be anything from unbalanced throttles/carbs to worn/leaking valves pistons on those 2 pots or could be
anything else in between. It may also be a complete red herring in terms of whether this has anything to do with bogging down under load.
I would start by swapping the plugs from 1 & 4 to 2 & 3 to see if it's simply a part fouled plug (I run plugs 2 grades softer than
standard) checking for airleaks then balancing the throttles & carbs - something worth checking, on the Kwaks the water pipe which runs
thro' the carbs to prevent icing frequently blocks up - both of mine had limited flow until I blasted them out with an airline, that can
certainly affect throttle response.
If still no better having balanced the carbs I would do a compression check. HTH
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

I swapped plugs over and outcome was the same,When stationary it picks the revs up perfectly, thats the annoying bit as soon as I give it some throttle
on the road it dies off death but in saying that if I gently apply throttle instead of planking it it goes better !!
I don't seem to have any water pipes connected to my carbs !!!
Also what is the code of the plugs you are running mate,I've put the one that are spec'd for it .
Cheers Mike
