Is your car too heavy?

After posting about my car weight at SVA I thought it would be interesting to see the average BEC weights.

Damn it...

Mental note - read post before voting - ignore one "Heavy lump" vote

Me too, best way to raise the Poweer to Weigt ratio would be to diet.
I reckon I'm 20Kg overweight, how much would it cost to lighten the car by 20Kg?

I've just given my nieces husband a lift around the back steets. He added 20+% to the car weight (110kg rugby player). I thought it was slow with him in; He now thinks he had no concept of what fast is before! (and his best mate has a Porker GT3).

I've been told that, roughly, 2kgs is worth 1hp! Thats why I'm on a diet.

My Striker is supposed to be a light CEC but I started at 535kg with lots of heavy Sierra bits. Unfortunately its gained weight over time to around 550kg even though I've "upgraded" to Capri suspension and Wilwood brakes. I've added weight through the Rotrex supercharger, intercooler and a heavy silencer to pass regs.

So straight line speed may have increased significantly but I feel I'm missing on the handling/braking of a BEC of around 440kg.

I've sold my car now, but I had proof that it was at 446Kilos.

I was a little surprised to find that 5 other people had also ticked that option as I can only think of one other car, maybe two and neither of those people commented on this thread...

Stop worrying about the weight. It will scare the crap out of you and it will eat that subaru you had.
