2003 R1 exhaust question

As some of you are aware im making my own system for the Fury.
Question is does the standard R1 exhaust can have a cat fitted in it, i heard somewhere it has, can some one please cleasr this up for me.

Yes, the 2001-2003 R1 5PW comes with a cat, as do all later models.

Some of the later cans have a small catalyst in the front portion of the silencer but its too small to get you through the SVA emissions test. I assume this is why you are looking into exhausts with catalysers fitted??

You assume right, so really not what i need, it weighs a tonne to start with, so would a standard blade one do as these are ally i think.
Then get a cat for now, which might fall off once the sva is done.

I'll be looking at getting a nice quiet standard can for my own build and then weld on a catalyst from US ebay (like this) and make it interchangable with a nicer aftermarket system for after SVA

Mine passed with a CAT from the US, pic attached, cost less than £50 including shipping.
