Track Day can
Hi everyone,
Going to Brands in October to a 105 day, but I do not know what my car runs at, all i know is that the CF Micron I have on it, its rather loud.
I have a R1 5PW, standard airbox and 4-1 manifold, 2 inch system. No CATS.
Can anyone reconmend a can to use for track, I want to go to others day that can be low as 98db. I have read the standard R1 can can do the job,
anything else though?
Also wanting to do an oil change in the next 500 miles, what oil and where from?

I use castrol GPS semi synthetic in mine and it seems OK.
The R1 can is quite restrictive but quiet. I have a very large silencer on mine, plus and airbox and induction silencer. It read 96.7dB at Cadwell
park last year. If you want quiet, buy the biggest diameter and length can you can fit on your car. Get them to fit a baffle plate 1/3 the way along
the wadding too.

Just had a can made to my dimensions by these guys:-
http://www.sdwlightfabrications.co.uk/
£180 and it looks and sounds great (quiet). Not had a static test yet (next friday at Combe will be the test), but was 99.7DB at full chat driveby at
Donington, which got me chucked off, but the sound guy reckons the induction was the main noise issue. I only have a sausage filter at the moment, and
you can hear it above the exhaust now i have the quiet box fitted

.......I'd be interested to know how you get on with the noise regs at Combe, I've got a trackday there the Friday after you. I'm
using an R1 can, which sounds pretty quiet to me, but I'm only using sock filters on the trumpets, and 100dB ain't that loud..

I failed with my 5" standard ST can last month (102DB), i managed to frig about with it and add a muffler and get on track by lunch time, and
they obviosly don't have a driveby meter as i would have been off as soon as i giot on at 11k rpm! They are red hot on it there, and i doubt
you will get through. I also think there meter is dodgy, after i fitted the muffler i was louder initially, i then went for a drive round the car park
for 10 minutes, and reved it a bit more smoothly and i only got 96DB!!

Blimey....that's low! I've recently checked mine with a dB meter, came out at around 98-99dB (4500rpm, 1/2 meter from outlet), so things
look encouraging...
