r1 thermostat wiring

I have a 5pw R1 and have accidently broken one of the wires that goes into the connector that plugs into the underside of the thermostat housing

I am using the RX1N clocks so am getting my temperature feed from a seperate source so was wondering if the broken wire will have any impact on the engine or ECU ?

I am hoping that I do not need to repair the wire as it snapped right at the entrance to the housing so not sure if I will be able to fix it

Yes it will have an effect. The ECU enrichens the mixture when the engine is cold.

From the service manual:

'Coolant temperature sensor
The signals from the coolant temperature sensor are used primarily for making fuel volume compen-
sations during starting and warm-up.'

I think you'll need to fix it.
