Anyone fitted a Pathfinder paddle shift

Please can you help me.

I have got a pathfinder paddle shift and it has been modified by the previous owner to fit a different application. What I need help with is the dimensions of the top aluminium bearing holder piece so I can get it remade.

Or if someone has a spare I would love to buy it.

Cheers Dave

Are you using the sierra column turned down or the custom tube on Pathfinders later versions.

I assume you are refering to the collar that the rose joint fix to?

Yes its the cut down Sierra type and yes its the collar that needs remaking. The person who had it before me seems to have modified it to fit a Wesfield. I just wish I could reach pathfinder!!

I have a rather battered one at home. which interestingly had been fitted prior to a hex QR boss being welded on.

The heat of the welding had bu99ered the bearing but the only way to get the collar off was to cut the QR boss off. I subsequently had the hole opened up so that it will slide over the QR boss (just).

Anyway I'll get the dimensions and post the here tonight. Don't expect a cad drawing . Alternatively I can post it to you for you to take to your local engineering shop to copy but I would like it back at some time.

Cheers

Jim

Hello Jim

It would be wonderful if I could borrow it as its a lot easier to put something in front of them. I will see how far out mine is from your dimension as it may only need minor adjustment and therefore not need another to look at. If I do borrow it I will make sure you get it back as soon as I have had one made.

Cheers Dave

Dave

Pics and measurements in my photo archive under Fury

here

and here

The column will need to be turned down to just under 50.3mm (almost interference fit).

The centre bore size will depend on whether you are fitting a QR boss.

Thank you very much for the pictures. Is this part suppose to retain a bearing?

No.

In my case the QR hex slug retains the bearing. If the steering wheel is bolt on then there is a small plastic collar that goes over the column inner presses down on the bearing when the steering wheel is tightened down. (the plastic collar has a tag to cancel the sierra indicators)

The paddleshift collar should only have the job of mounting the paddleshift to the column outer.

I gave up trying to contact and decided to manufacture some of the parts myself.

There isnt much complicated in the design but I would struggle to get it made for his price.
