Hi Guys.

This car has just come up for sale localy.
1992 Ford Sierra Glx I 1600cc

I assume it has a CHV injection engine.
but does it have a type 9 box or MT75

If it is as I suspect a MT75, what year did they change from the Type 9?

Cheers David

My donor was a 1993 K reg with 1.6 pinto and type 9 installed.

I think the CVH was only used as a 1.8 in the Sierra?

I'm not really bothered about the engine.
I'm more interested in the gearbox.

How can I identify a MT75 box?
I know what a Type 9 looks like
But have no idea how they differ

type 9 reverse - push down left and up by 1st gear : MT75 reverse pull to right and towards you beside 4th gear. Beware that the MT75 is quite a bit bigger than the t9 .

Cheers Keith.

Just what I needed to know.

The MT75 has a non-removable bellhousing - just in case you're looking for one out of the car.

Thanks for the pic.

Certainly couldn't mistake a Type9
for a MT75...

No, they used the 1.6 CVH as well from 1991.
