need a few tips

seeing as how I never seem to get my fiero out of the garage and as my doubts regarding its potential as a sportscar keeps rising, I figured I might as well plan for building myself a locost (yeah, that's what I get for buying Ron's book in the late 90īs). The Fiero wheels are 5x100 and as I have a set of 17-inch wheels in addition to the original 13-inch wheels, I figured I might as well start there. But where would I find suitable donors for the hubs and uprights? Any suggestions (other than getting them from another fiero or butchering the one in my garage)? VW used the same bolt pattern for a while, is there anything there that could be useful? Do we have any sort of lists regarding what components have been used from what donor cars?

Personally i'd say sell the wheels and build using more typical donor parts from Ford or maybe Maxda (MX5). Not sure what you could use with 5x100pcd but you would have to know a lot about suspension design to build chassis / wishbones to suit whatever you found. Just not worth it tbh.

These were 4x100pcd, and Tiger discontinued the Super 6 as they were finding Golf mk2 parts hard to come by. I actually tried selling all the parts i had but had no luck so i have pics somewhere - not that the hubs are 5 bolt anyway. Not sure if the later Golf stuff is similar

wouldn't I need to take a long hard look at the suspension design either way?

Sell the fiero? Use the money to get more suitable parts for the locost

if the fiero turns out to be a disappointment it will be sold not until I have decided on its replacement though

I think the mkIII Golf used the 5x100 bolt pattern, or was it the mk IV? the new beetle did for sure though.
