Found some red american car

I think it's a chevy, there's a badge on the back "Z28"

Anyone know what kind of engine is in it and has anyone else used one? All I've seen is the back of it and that it's had a flat tyre for about a year and a half (is a flat tyre the international signal for "make me an offer on this car"?)

Chevrolet Camaro Z28, model below the SS (sportier top of the range model). The later ones (F-body, 90's onward) are a 5.7L V8, producing bout 280/290bhp as standard. New one released was featured in the Transformers movie, the yellow car.

My friend has a '99 model Z28, I borrow it in exchange for maintaining it as and when necessary! Nice car, bit juicy if you've got a heavy right foot, but not too bad considering engine size.

It's an old pushrod design engine, cam at the bottom of the V.

Things to note - the headers are very restrictive, as is the exhaust system. Replacement cam for more power is about £450 plus fitting, and new exhaust was custom made. Between the 2 mods, car should be seeing 330/340bhp (awaiting dyno test).

But, watch out for manual models - they chew through gearboxes and clutches like I do hot dinners. Auto model was more popular, and can still go sideways around roundabouts......

If you send me some pictures, I will be able to tell you more details about the model/engine/bits to watch for!

Well it's on someone else's drive at the moment, but looking on autotrader it appears to be an early 90's model, and worth about £4k in good nick. I really don't think it's moved in years and I'm currently debating on buying it for restoring or using the engine, and how much to offer (never done it before don't want to be kicked in the nuts for offending some stranger on their own front door!)

I'll try and find some pics on tinterweb though

Think swmbo might like it, should be powerful enough for her to make good use of the "f**k this I'm offski" pedal

Now to clear the garage

The guy opposite me has one of these. It comes out of the garage every week, and he revs the crap out of it on his drive (the neighbours love him!). Apparently, his isnt standard, and is pushing out closer to 500bhp! It sure sounds lovely, but not a good hangover cure!

Yeah I read something about the manifolds are a bit restrictive so replacing them can give you 300bhp
