Escort Donors

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I'm still in the thinking/planning stage of my build. I'm planning on a Locost racer and I've started looking for Escort donors.

There are a couple for sale on ebay from £300 - £500 depending on condition, but this seems a lot for an old banger! Is it worth buying a donor, or should I look for the individual parts? ie. will the parts add up to more than £300?

Thanks for your help.
Rob

you say that you are building a racer, i'd go for the parts rather than the complete car.
I've only gone down the car route as i am looking for an aged related plate and not a 'Q', not all the parts come from one car and the storage/breaking can be problematic.
just think how much more parts you can get for £500 and without the hassle of finding a car then breaking it.
I'd go for parts and register under a 'Q' after sva.

Bear in mind getting the shell taken away will cost you £20-£50 so you can off-set the cost of that against buying the parts individually.

HTH,

James

On second thoughts- you might well be able to sell a good Escort shell to someone for a few quid!

A 2 door maybe, James. The race boys snap 'em up. He doesn't wanna end up with a useless 4 door on his drive like me.

Interestingly I saw a 2-door shell with bids going over £160 on ebay! Very odd I thought.

Still, I would have the problem of getting the donor to my house, then stripping it, then waiting for a buyer for the shell etc.

On the whole, it seems a lot easier (but more expensive) to buy the parts.
