I have been searching for age but can't find a list of the points allocation for an related plate
anyone help me out
CARS AND CAR-DERIVED
VANS MUST USE:
• The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit – monocoque); or
• a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer/manufacturer (e.g. receipt)
AND two other major components from the original vehicle – see list below
• Suspension (front & back)
• Axles (both)
• Transmission
• Steering assembly
• Engine
If a second-hand chassis/monocoque bodyshell is used, the vehicle must pass a Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) test (see page 5 “vehicles that are
allocated alternative registration numbers”) after which a “Q” prefix registration number will be allocated.
N.B. Vehicle Identification Check (VIC)
From 7 April 2003, all cars and some tricycles (e.g. Reliant Robin) that are written off by an insurance company or declared scrapped by their owners
due to accident damage will have to be notified to DVLA.
VIC has been introduced to deter criminals from disguising stolen cars with the identity of written off or scrapped ones.
The check is designed to help confirm that the vehicle being returned to the road has been repaired following accident damage and has not been
stolen.

so if i design and build my own chassis, use the engine and trans from the same vehicle I think i can get an age related plate, yes?

To add to this question would you get tested for emissions of the engine or the donor you are taking the plate from(other components)?
I only ask as I was going to use a sierra lump and change after IVA but if its not necessary I'll save myself the bother!

This seems to cause constant confusion (possibly due to the DVLA changing the rules silently from time to time)

Which only gives the options of original registration or Q (for some reasons I'm thinking this has changed from what I remember).
Age related plates are only available for kit conversions now, for which you need 2 major components from the donor - so engine gearbox should be
fine. But you may need to set yourself up as a manufacturer to fit the letter of the rules about the chassis source.

You need to use a bit more than just the engine and box from the doner vehicle - you get `ponts' for each major component used , these can be axles , steering , brakes etc - and there is a minimum score although I cant remember what it is .

I beleive it is 8 points you need. Engine is 2 points, brakes, gearbox, diff, suspension etc is 1 point iirc
