Went to see a 2.0 DOHC sierra at Simpons Salvage today (light rear end bump - £100).
Spent bout 30 min checkin everythin over on it.
Liked it, wanted it, went to get the keys to hear the engine run and organise buying it.
There stood at the desk was a guy with its keys in his hand handing over a wad of cash to buy it!!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh just my luck!
Oh well these things happen, but if any one knows where any 2.0 DOHC sierras are in the Leeds area i'm still looking.
Ah.. what a shitter... Should of beaten the guy up and nicked his money then bought the car with his money lol
I've heard that the dohc is not as tuneable as the sohc. Could be cpap but wondered why specifically this donor?
Yeah Vince is right, from what I've read/heard too....the DOHC is not a first choice donor...
Yeah I was gonna wait outside and lynch him with the crowbar I always carry in the car boot. But since I’m over my anger now……
Yeah I realise the DOHC engine isn't so tuneable as a Pinto, but the MT75 gearbox attached to it is just what I want to mate a 2.0 16V Mondeo
Zetec to ! And the discs all round are pretty handy too.
I haven't got my Zetec yet, though Steve has for £100 (running with ALL ancillaries and loom etc.) I'm getting one from the same guy when
he is next breaking one for spares for his taxi fleet.
I’m trying to keep the cost down as low as possible but keep getting sucked in by ‘bigger’, ‘better’ or ‘faster’ stuff
For a donor in the Leeds area get to one of the auctions - for £100 you will easily get a DOHC car, probably with some MOT. I bought mine last July for £130 with 6 months MOT, alloys, interior in perfect condition etc. Try Premier Motor Auctions or MotorAuctions evening sales - just remember the buyers indemnity fee is added to the price you pay.

I have been down to Premier Motor Auctions a few times on your (Andyps) recommendation in another post. I think I have just been unlucky, so far I’ve
only seen a couple of sierras go under the hammer and they were all 1.8 CVH ones.
Cheers for keeping an eye out TGP but I think it’s quite tricky to use the 4x4. Also I think I would need the 2.0 4x4 rather than the V6 to get the
4x4 MT75 box which I could mate to a zetec?
Any opinions on this would be appreciated - Are there any extra difficulties mounting a 4x4 MT75 box to a zetec rather than a normal MT75? – And am I
right in thinking it’s a LOT harder (I know it can be done) to use the 4x4 system because it would be awesome if I could do it.
You cant use the MT75 4x4 box without loads of work to replace the transfer box, not worth doing as thousands of 2WD units sitting in salvage yards, you should be able to pick one up for £30-£40 so I wouldn't worry too much if you can't get a donor with one in. Good thing about using 4x4 is that you should get the LSD which is probably more to buy than a gearbox, but not sure if you can use front hubs...

Premier motor auctions have a website which has a pretty good stock list to save journeys. I have also found that all the auctions will tell you if they have a particular car in stock if you give them a ring an hour or two before the sale starts.
