After a long couple of days, ive managed to strip the Volvo down, remove and label all the wiring loom, remove engine and gearbox, remove propshaft
fuel pump, etc. Was hard going but as soon as that engine and gearbox came out this morning I was delighted!
Looking forward to getting the engine into my chassis, hopefully it will fit lol. Then need to strip down the loom and remove all the electrical stuff
I don't need.
Happy days.
well done !!!
Well done - Whats the plans for the car then ??
And what engine work you got in mind?
Post some pics of your progress, Love the old Volvos
Nice one
I would also love to see some piccys
Only took 3 days to completely strip the car, and I mean completely.
Plans are to get the engine cleaned up a little then try and mount it into the chassis, think it's JUST going to fit with the rough measurements
I've taken, maybe find out some point this month when I'm back home.
As for plans at the moment, will be just getting it in the car and running standard (180bhp and 260Nm @7PSI), then will be looking into either
chipping the ECU to allow me to adjust the boost pressure upto about 1 Bar, including a 3inch exhaust system from Turbo back which should see about
250bhp and low 300Nm which shall be far more than adequate .
In the future I'll hopefully be trying my hand at a Megasquirt or similar and depending how stupidly fast it is standard or with a simple boost
hike, might find another Volvo 740 GLT (2.3litre, 16v NA model) and take the head off, do some piston work and then be running a 740 Turbo 16v which
standard can handle upto 500bhp but means it will be a lot smoother but im sure 250hp will be silly quick in a 500kg car
Will try and get pictures up later, got them on my phone so need to get them uploaded.
Some Updates and pictures, engine is out and is cleaning up really nicely, going to do more degreasing at the weekend but will look brand new when
cleaned
Anyways I'll let the pictures do the talking for now...
Engine Out
Cleaning it down
Thats all for now, enjoy. Hopefully next pictures will be of it being trial fitted into the chassis
volvo power
Awesome
