What is the best paint for;
Engine
G'Box
Diff
Uprights
Calipers
Drive Shafts
Assume it is best to use a primer?
Cheers Ben
G box , diff/shafts, and engine could all use the same so long as its oil/petrol resistant, eg engine black is as good as any.
Uprights i would use something a little more pleaseinf to the eye as they are on show all the time, i used a red oxide primer then a couple of coats
of Waxoyl anti chip paint 5.99 in Halfords. Kind of matt finish but looks good. i also used it for the callipers too.Nou used the calipers since
painted so i dont know how well it will cope with the heat.
Have a look in my archive at the piccys and you will see the finish - wishbones done in the same stuff too.
Always use a primer too.
all IMHO too!

laugh my tits off at Joels reply, your not really selling your creation to us are you Joel!
well, call a spade a spade! my car is ugly. theres no paint, welded panels, daft design, FAR too big, but hey, twas fun to drive. and its all mine. better things will come! mk2...
It's not so bad, Joel!
The way you put the mouth on it, though, no one here in their right mind would touch it.
lucky its not for sale i guess!
For any areas in contact with oil/fuel I use engine laquer (Halfords - last well, made by car plan I think - 14 years on one of my cars and still
OK)
A really good paint for chassis, suspension etc. (if not powder coating, whichI now prefer) I have always used international paints Perfection 709 2
pack brushable paint - again 14 years on my older car (in background of the terrapin on some of my photos) and still shiny new!
Joel,
are you uilding another one then with the bike eingine or are you cutting and shutting the existing one? to suit the bike engine.
next ones going to be twin bec middy. gonna finish this one and probably get it tested twice. then shimmy it onto the second.
I've been wondering about why people don't do that more often- or maybe they do and they keep quite about it?
