I've been offered a 2.0i Toyota Celica.
It has a twin cam engine.
It's front wheel drive.
I think it's from the 1986-1989 T16X range. And it appears to be an SX type (judging by the rear window).
Can anyone confirm that this isn't the 4AGe engine (which I think is a 1600CC).
Also, is this engine any good? It's transverse so will need a RWD gearbox etc. I gather that Supra boxes are often used.
You opinions please!
Thanks,
James
It isn't a 4AGE.
It is very much like a 4AGE though, 16v etc.
Can't help with the box, though you may be right.

This site may help.
Thanks Alan but it's all academic now anyway- went back to have a look and some tossers have torched it!
Oh well, I'm sure another will come along in the time it takes me to build my car!!!
cheers,
James

so would the engine have fitted ?
yes it will fit..... almost any engine will fit within reason, its just getting the transmision right. you need to get a rwd gearbox that will fit with slight mods to the fwd engine, thats the tricky part.the 20lt was more or less a follow on from the 4age i believe.
i think a quick word with raw may help
they might be able to help with fitting the t5o or t9 box
Totally relevant, yet of little interest perhaps, I have a picture of the engine in question in my archive
so is that your dona car
will the engine fit?
i need to find out as much as i can
im gonna go see it tomorrow and if it runs id like to use it
thanks
