Sierra Plans?????????
ee0jmt - 27/6/04 at 07:48 PM

Hi, I am new to this game, just bought the book and realised that it might be a little useless, I wish I had found this forum first.

I don't know a lot about building cars (in fact nothing), so I would like to follow some simple plans and instructions.

I think for convenience I need to use a sierra donor, but I realise there are problems with the rear axle.

Could someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of some straight forward plans and instructions that use a sierra 2l Pinto.

Thank you!!!

Tiger do a book called 'How to build your own Tiger Avon Sports Car'. It's based on a Sierra and might be of interest.
Mind you I am not recommending that you build a Tiger Avon!

Take a look at GTS Tuning. They offer a de dion rear axel arrangement that fits a book chassis, but accomodates a Sierra transmission and half shafts. They also offer wide track front wishbones to match.

someone should mention Jim McSorleys free plans, for sierra donor. Research the de dion back end if you want.

Jim McSorley's plans which are more accurate than the book, a sierra donor and a gts dedion rear axle, job done.

Don't worry about knowing nothing about car building - I was the same when I started, as were many people here.

The only thing you really need is a bit of mechanical sense, i.e. a feeling for what works and what doesn't. Some people are ham-fisted and should never be allowed near a car of ANY sort, but anyone who can tighten nuts enough without rounding their heads off is well on the way!

Happy building!
