How many Sierra's left
PAUL FISHER - 16/6/11 at 06:54 PM

Just came across this site, while looking to find out how many of my model of car are registered in the UK, but I was suprised how few Sierra's are left not looking good for Sierra based kits

good thing that they don't make kits out of cars like TR7 convertible auto, or Bristol 404,...!

Interesting site....

Just out of interest I asked how many Metro 6R4's were left.

259 That's 59 more than were made

Great site.

So there are another 40 106XSi's Sorn'd! Won't become a classic anytime soon then!

How did you get 259? By my reading there are only 8 currently taxed and on the road, and 23 on SORN,...

Trollyjack - 16/6/11 at 08:11 PM

that a great site pity it does not tell you who owns them

JoelP - 16/6/11 at 08:15 PM

I wonder how he persuaded the DoT to tell him those figures, or give access to the database?

Now!, they were worth a lot of money then!!!!

The odl man nearly bought one new at £24k and that was "cheap", which was still extortionate in the day

Edit: I've still got the ccc mag review somewhere and the front cover is some bird with a shopping trolley next to her and a bag in hand with the boot open staring at the lump looking all confused

That will only tell you haw many are on the road/Sorn, I would imagine there are quite a few not on the system.
On the other hand there are probably a fair few that are sorned but dont acctualy exist anymore!

skodaman - 16/6/11 at 08:50 PM

Only 97 Rover 800's left on the road. Anyone want to bag a bargain before it becomes 96?

Unlikely to have needed much persuasion. All publicly held information is available with a Freedom of Information request, as long as it's not personal, sensitive, secret, etc.

yeah they ar just like the RS200's - the cheapest they've ever been was brand new!

there was one on that car and classis site for a while at £80k - and it sold (of course I don't know if they got the full 80k or not....)

dear santa, I've been a good boy this year so can you please bring me a 6R4.....

Easy, the dvla will sell it to you, thats how the dodgy carparks know where to send the fake penalty tickets too.

Cheers

That site is amazing, according to it I have owned two diffrent extremely rare cars.

Mitsubishi Starion - 42 Left

VW Jetta GTi 16v - 38 Left (there were 40 before I got my grubby hands on a couple)

James - 17/6/11 at 01:23 PM

And no Mclarens either.

And I'm sure the King of Bahrain hasn't got them all!

I like that site, I was amazed to find the number of 205 gentry's still about (Considering how har it is to find them for sale). Weirdly there are two more for this year than the end of last year but I suppose they could be imports.

Didn't someone on here say you could get Sierras much cheaper in Europe where it's harder to register a kit so they've not all been canabalised?

sashasapphire92 - 23/6/11 at 02:44 PM

ive still got my sierra in 1 piece ha ha

tony-devon - 23/6/11 at 03:06 PM

wow wonder if that makes my Talbot solara officially a classic then!

might have to start the old girl up and put her on ebay

Rod Ends - 23/6/11 at 03:38 PM

The current issue of Practical Classics has an article with figures from the DVLA.
Seem to recall there are about 42,000 Sierras.
