Currently have a zetec (old red top) and it is giving no end of problems, what do I chage it to that fits or easily fits the type 9
What about something like sccoby engine or bike or ??
How about another zetec brand new of gbs £700 bike engine would take patial rebiuld i am fitting a duratec brill engine but not cheap to bolt to a type 9
2.9 cosworth V6
Just get another hundred quid zetec and go for it.......Wrong time of the year to be changing engines.....
We get little enough time to drive in the Scottish summer with out having a car off the road
scooby engine no good - too wide
Zetecs are usually bomb proof if they have been serviced well.
What sort of problems is the zetec giving you?
They normally dead straight as long as you use the correct oil.
My Nissan is toast too, so I am going to pull it this weekend and have a look. Maybe within a month, or two, someone from the local sports car club
will come over to let me know what the hell I am supposed to look for. So a rebuild is in the cards, and if it all goes haywire, another JDM. I
don't expect to drive much this year.
So I feel your pain. If I were you, I'd go for the new Zetec and be done with it. In the end it is probably cheapest. We can't get them
here, and don't have Type 9's either.
Is it the wiring that's the issue
Or the cooling system.......
swapping to another type of engine is just going to bring more grief
It's an emissions problem
Had it since day zero,
Day zero : to much HC & CO2
Year 1 : change to bike carbs - to much HC & CO2
Year 3 : Changed to Mega squirt injection ..... to much HC & CO2
last week fixed an inlet air leak & fitted wide band lamdba -
Yesterday : MOT (2nd this year) failed on emmission again ...... Still in the 4k Range. to much HC & CO2
Ready to throw matches at the thing........ so pissed off.

Have you checked the thermostat? The MAF dirty?
I have no idea, but I read that somewhere. Can't hurt!
