1600 beetle engine

Anyone got a beetle engine? 1600 if possible but would consider any, cheers

Stay away from the 1200 they can't be increased in capacity like the 1300 and are often offered very cheaply due to that.

To change from 1300 to 1600 requires new barrels, pistions and cylinder heads as it's the same stroke just a larger bore

But then if you're going to change a 1300 to a 1600, you may as well do a 1776 or 1835

Also, the 1200 was only a single port, the 13/1600 were twin port.

Beyond 1600 you then need longer throw cranks and machining to the inside of the case to make it all fit, the 1600 is the easy option. By the time you add up all the extra cost of beyond 1600 you might as well have started with a second hand Subaru engine and got some real power
