well, anything can be used really. Bear in mind that this engine is injection, so will be a little taller than the carbd engines. aside from that, no obvious problems that i can see. the loom will be more complex than some due to the ghia spec.
I think that could well be a pinto engine (but make sure first!) at E reg in which case it would be good IMHO
I think you ought to try and retain the sunroof - not a feature often seen in Locosts
being a ghia it may have discs on the rear too..
Sounds like a very good donor to me!
The EFi Pinto engine has a slightly better cylinder head than the the carb'd engine. Free alloys are a bonus and the mechanicals should all be
OK, may even have rear disks as well if you're lucky. You can probably claim the tax back as well, which makes it slightly ceaper too.
The only that you may need to change is the steering rack if it's fitted with power steering.

Also does extra height require me to use modified chassis
Also how do I fit the sunroof (joke!)

i got the same car for £40 - 2.0l i ghia, on a g plate.
i made a point about mentioning the rust on the bodywork (quite bad) although i didnt need the bodywork.
its worth haggling down on everything wrong you see.
the guy wanted £300 for it at first.
i offered him £50, and asked him to call me if he hadnt sold it within the month - he called me later that day and i had it for £40 - thats a
result!!
check to see if its got discs on rear - if u dont need them, then u ca prob make the money back on the whole car.
good luck
tom
cheers tom
Did you have any trouble with the height of the plenum and did you have to shorten it to fit below bonnet
Same spec as my donor too, F reg Ghia with rear discs, i will be using the EFi and chopping the plennum, i dont want a hole in the bonnet, just gotta
thin the wiring out as mine had ABS elec everything - Aircon !! power steering etc.
Various people have chopped the plennum in different ways but if you need some pics, try the luego build manual on their website or i have some pics
of a friends set up that i can e-mail if needed, Good luck and HAGGLE !
hi,
to be honest i decided against the 2.0 engine - i bought my 1st sierra, a 1.8cvh with the view of upgrading to a 2L zetec in a year or so time, but
decided i wanted discs on the back - so went to my local scrappy, and they wanted £100 for the callippers etc... so i set about buying my own. the
engine is a good one, done about 100k miles, btu starts fine - i keep it running, cuz you never know when u might need it.
sorry couldnt be more help, if you want any bits from my sierra(all ive used is the rear callippers, and mangled up te drivesharfts) otherwise
everything is there for taking, or have any questions advice etc.. just give me a yell.
pretty sure all the 2.0i have rear discs, but im sure someone will let you know if thats not the case.
cheers
tom
Thanks all for your help, searching the forum has led me to Mark Allanson who seems to have done an a1 job lowering his.
I think I might get my haggling head on and go 4 the EFi
In the mean time any help on using the EFi would be appreciated.
Thanks again
where about in the country are you mate? fill your location in, and maybe someone local can give you a hand.
i know next to nothing about injection...

I assume you have downloaded the pdf, if you have any questions - just ask
At the time I wrote the pdf, the setup was untested, now I have it running, and have driven it. It pulls like a train, no tuning problems like twin 40's or 45's, just bolt on and run!
Mark
Thanks again
Hi Mark, Nice to hear it runs well, did you have to make any mods which are not in the PDF?
Also do you think that I am going to have problems finding someone who can TIG weld?
The only mod was to unblock one of the injectors! I am going to move the air filter to the nosecone so it draws cold air, but appart from that, it
worked straight out of the box, so to speak!
You could do the welding with your own MIG, you will need pure argon and ally filler wire, a teflon liner would be nice, but you could get away
without one
