should I keep it as a donor or just sell it and get a different one?

I currently have for a donor an 88 isuzu impulse
it has a lot of useful parts for a normal build, however I'm planning at the moment a build using a 300hp 350 chevy motor.
So I'm pretty sure the rearend won't survive behind that.
so my options are:
1. just use the rack, and front spindles
2. sell it all off and get spindles that will match a stronger rear end
3. rebuild the 2.0 turbo that's there already, hunt down a trans to go behind it.
4. rebuild the GM 2.8 , hunt down a trans to go behind it.

any suggestions?

think the prob is that us UK based guys dont know that car!

the closest you can get the car to fit the book design, the easier life will be!

Does it have a green badge in the lower rear passenger panel "suspension by LOTUS"?

I have Herd...hmmm, heard (yes better) Americans rave that it is one of the most compatitable American based donor cars you can buy or steel. Yahoo North American Locost had some ideas about this car in Novermber-ish. You can do a search in their forum to find the specifics.

It was sold in the UK as an Isuzu Piazza and had suspension tuned by Lotus.

From memory of size etc. it would probably make a very good donor, but I don't have any specific knowledge (of anything some might say!)

Impulse/Piazza is based on the Chevette/Gemini/Kadett platform.

Early cars have a torque tube rear end - not too good for a locost.

Apparently the later Impulse/Piazza had a 5-link rear.

If it's a later Turbo, perfect!

- 5-link rear
- lsd
- rear discs
- ventilated front discs
- forward steer rack iirc

88 is the later turbo with a 5 link
however it is rear steer , and the rack is 26.5" ball to ball
