Are any of these any good?

1)Ford escort 1.3lx mk4 H reg, 5 door, c/locking, s/h, f/f sunroof, stereo, clean car, drives well, tax/MOT expired hence...

2)Ford Fiesta XR2 E reg, no MOT or tax, slight head gasket, alloys, can be put back on road, £100....

3)Honda civic CRX16v 1988-91. Breaking lots of modifications, Spax adj shocks, springs. Powerflow exhaust system. Power boost valve, custom made... £1.00

4)ford sierra g reg 1800 ohc engine, in blue, non runner, for breaking, many useful parts, £50 for complete car..

I'm using standard Mcsorley plans so far...

Front wishbones need to be able to take Sierra Uprights

Rear end - if you're using Sierra runing gear then best to go for IRS or De Dion as you can the use the Sierra diff, halfshafts, uprights etc.

I'm sure some-one will be along in a minute and mention GTS Tuning so I'll save them the bother..

The Sierra is your car. All the others would require that you buy sierra bits anyway for the running gear.

And - much as I really respect Honda engineering and I'm sure that is a jewel of an engine, it still spins the wrong way to make it suitable for a front engined / RWD car.
It would be great in a mid engined car, but you're not building one of those

Just out of interest, why not the Escort Mk4? The engine's more manageable on it, so I'd rather go for that one?

By all means use the engine out of the Mk 4. However, it's FWD so the rest of the runnng gear is only really suitable for use on a middy.

By all means take the Mk 4 engine and mate it with the Sierra running gear (will bolt straight to the Sierra RWD gearbox)

Sierra but ditch the 1800 CVH and get a 1600 CVH Weber engine out a MK3 Esort/ Orion or Mk2 XR2

I asked this before and was told that although the rears are different, if you use the running gear as part of DeDion or IRS, the bits you need are the same regardless of Estate or Hatch.
