I need new front discs!! I can't find the right ones
bi22le - 3/10/23 at 10:51 PM

After doing brands GP I was putting the car on the trailer, strapping it down and spotted my discs were cracked!!!

So Im pretty sure I have identified them as Cortina mk 3 / escort mk 2. Something like this

https://www.burtonpower.com/brake-discs-f-cortina-mk3-mk4-mk5-escort-mk2-rs-pair-di822751.html

Problem is that the pads were slightly of the edge and were touching each other.

I would like bigger than 247mm. Are the solid Sierra rear brake the same? The offset looks good and they are 257mm

Hello,
I don't know about the sierra disc, but Rally Design do a 265mm solid disc for cortina based kit cars, a quick phone call will confirm fitment for you

This one brake disc kit: https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=10507, just confirming fitment

Here are the available 265mm discs solid discs to suit

Plain disc: https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=23730
Grooved disc: https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=23731
Drilled and grooved disc: https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=23956

Aren't the Cortina discs bolted to the back of the hub? The Seirra ones go over the wheel studs against the flange.

Brakes International has good data

I am running with Sierra solids with KA/Fiesta calipers
Unfortunately they are only a 240 diameter, so not what you are after

Take a gander on their site though, you may find what you need...

But not on Cortina hubs where the disc bolts to the back of the hub.

The rally design discs are modified e30 bmw solid front discs, their website describes them as 265mm, in reality they are 260mm and it does mention it somewhere in the details.
They are reasonably priced though and off the shelf so might be the simplest answer.

There are also a few peugeot/citroen front discs that are modifiable to fit inboard on the escort/capri hubs if you have the engineering equipment to do such, I'm not 100% sure there are any solid discs amongst those though.

These are vented versions, but you can see the difference.

This is correct, the cortina discs have a tiny offset, about 1/2" because they bolt to the back of the hub

I have a set of the cortina fitment 265mm solid discs here which I can measure accurately for you including thicknesses, offsets. etc, whatever you need. Let me know

Are they for sale 🤣

I have old ones to measure. I just wanted slightly bigger than 147mm. Ideally 155mm to stop the pads hanging off the edges.

Minicooper - 5/10/23 at 09:10 PM

Not for sale, just trying to help out

1.3 Sierra fronts are only 240mm

bi22le - 8/10/23 at 10:01 PM

Update. . . I just bought some non grooved or drilled versions from Burton power. Unless I customise them I can't get cortina fitments which are around 155mm. They don't exist. Annoying as these Raceleda uprights and calipers create a tiny over hang for the pads.

Grrrr

obfripper - 9/10/23 at 08:34 AM

Are the raceleda calipers you have radial mount? If they are, you could get the overhang depth machined off the brackets, and they would still be adjustable to bigger discs with spacers.

You could try Tiger Racing they have some cortina fit discs on their site and might be able to help with the size you need.
